The Simple Science

How hypnosis works

We have two states of mind - The Conscious and The Subconscious.

During everyday life, you use your conscious mind to make decisions and carry out routines.  Your subconscious mind works in the background; it stores information, memories and habits.

During hypnosis, the client is guided into an enhanced state of relaxation.  Once in this clam and comfortable state, the subconscious mind becomes very alert and receptive to positive, new suggestions.

The conscious mind has a little snooze, whilst the subconscious mind does all the work.  It receives new thoughts and ideas, spoken by the hypnotherapist.

Negative thoughts and habits are replaced with positive, inspirational and transforming proposals, as wished for by the client.

The technique does not involve the client being put into a deep sleep, although sessions are intended to be very relaxing.

The client remains fully aware and in control of the situation and their surroundings at all times, and cannot be made to do anything they do not wish to do.
